The Horsey Seals are Growing Up

Thursday, 12 January 2023 12:13

Yesterday I made my third visit of the season to Horsey Gap, on the Norfolk Coast, to see the progress in the grey seal colony. We found a few young pups a few more slightly older pups, having lost their downy coat, and groups of adults huddledd together ready for their moult. The heading picture shows an older pup which had climbed up onto the dunes. Fortunately there are alternative paths along the dunes. This is Paul checking out the relaxed pup and it should relax as the little canyon’s they use to get up on the dunes would be a challenge for a mountain climbers. We saw pups through the various stages of development. The main activity of young and old was the odd scratch. It was pleasing to see plenty of people visiting to see the seals and the locations where the adults were congregating. I’ll finish with some synchronised sleeping.
