Bedfringe 2026

It was wonderful to be asked to return to Bedfringe for our fifth time. The event is an excellent showcase for, largely, local talent and, unlike many small festivals, this one has survived. The format has adjusted in recent years to accommodate as many performers as possible with slightly curtailed set lengths and tight integration of the three onsite venues, the main auditorium, the garden stage and the bar. We have played the garden stage before and this year we were scheduled in the bar. This is not a criticism of the event or the team who work tirelessly to put the festival together but the bar was not an ideal venue for us. Our music is generally quite low key and our songs usually have interesting lyrics which benefit from a sit down audience. Now we had that with a wonderful group of family and friends but, being a bar there was a lot of back and forth, as you would expect. The location also challenged my usual video and audio set up. I like to record our shows. A normal position for camera and audio recording would be on the main path to and from the bar. A location highish up on a piano across the room meant recording the whole room rather than just the band. I am sure our friends and family got the best of the sound being closer to the loudspeakers. This is a bit of a long winded preamble to the video, which you can find here, where the sound probably does not do justice to our set but is a record of the evening. Caroline, Richard and I play music we like and enjoy playing together and that is our main motivation but we also enjoy sharing that with an audience so all around it was a great evening. Caroline’s husband Ian and my pal Paul Langshaw took a few photos which I have included to give a sense of the evening. You will see them pop up on the video from time to time doing their stuff. Sorry for the long post but I felt a little explanation was need to introduce the video.
