France October 2024 - Day 15 Quiberon Day 2

The overnight rain passed as expected, just, as a look out the window when I got up showed a full overcast. Things can change quickly by the sea. After the tranquil east coast yesterday today’s walk would take me to the west coast, the Côte Sauvage, open to the Bay of Biscay. As you will see in the photographs it is a rocky coast reminiscent of ocean facing coasts closer to home. Although a little further than yesterday there was less to draw the camera’s attention so a little shorter in time. The first almost 4km took me across Quiberon and through Kerné village with a few interesting sights along the way including the morning moon, the Maison des Associations (seems to be associations for everything, sport, art, business…..) and interesting building labels. The path then crossed a little moorland before hitting the coast at a monument to a fireman and a policemen who died trying to rescue a “reckless” person unnamed. I have included a handful of photographs, including the headline picture, to give a sense of the coast. The first part of the walk was very much solo but as the day warmed up, it is Saturday, a few joggers and walkers, with and without dogs, began to appear. There were plenty of spare seats on “Le Petit Train”. I hope the two girls in silhouette were checking their times not their social media. The coastal path brings you round to the small Port of Quiberon with not a lot to see and then back to the bars and restaurants of the Grand Plage with some doing an excellent Saturday lunch trade. The Plage, of course, was empty being now out of season. As I walked back up to the hotel the market was winding down with shoppers doing their best to delay the stall holders tidy up and departure. I cannot say how fortunate I have been with the weather as my only plan for two full days here was two long walks. It has been nice to be in the same base, a comfortable, well-located, ibis Styles hotel and to leave the car parked. Now if I can get down to my local for moule et frites without getting wet all will be right with the world.
