France Spring 2025 Day 15 - Grenoble to Lyon

If it was grey yesterday it was a lucky grey as rain was this morning’s treat as I drove to Aix-les-Bains on Lac-du-Bourget after a run through the Chartreuse mountains. Fortunately it held off after late morning but it was a jacket and gloves day with a brisk north wind and no sunshine. I stopped at a small town, Saint-Thibaud-de-Couz, and a waterfall of the same name along the way and the town shots illustrate what was to be the atmospheric conditions for most of the day. The waterfall is pretty nice, right beside the railway line, which you need to cross to get to it. Exciting. At Aix I did not get my planned wander and perhaps a coffee as I could not get parked after 20 minutes around the centre and in and out of car parks. I have added a few photos from the GoPro in the car at the end of the post. As it happened it was a good thing as the lakeside was pretty much deserted so I got a nice little wander after all. From there it was a meander through back roads until the outskirts of Lyons and a charge stop at a 24 stall Supercharger in a shopping centre at Bron. I got one of the last 2 and by the time I walked over to the shops for a comfort stop and a coffee the car was ready to go. The traffic into Lyon was not too bad but the car park at the Hotel is a nightmare. It took my 15 minutes to get in and parked and am not sure how I will get out! I cannot complain as a damp driving day is OK when the walking days are mainly dry. The headline shot and a few below are on the lakeside at Aix-les-Bains. There follows a few shots from Saint-Thibaud-de-Couz and one from hotel window of a dance troup practicing. As commented I’ll finish wth some inc car shots.
