Before the Storm

It seems that we may be heading for a change in the weather as the first Atlantic storm of the year approaches. The notable thing here has been the disappearance of the snow but not all of the ice as you can see above where the birds were still walking on the marina a couple of days ago and still are today, below. In fact you can see how thick the ice was from the broken pieces in the next picture. I was at Hinchinbrooke earlier in the week and, although there was less snow than in St Neots, it was still a wintery scene. The Lodge had a bit more snow than home but the heath ensured that white was restricted to the paths, the “swimming pool” at the house and the garden. There was a little rabbit keeping a low profile but I am sure pleased to have a fur coat. By yesterday after a little drizzle the snow was gone at Old Warden but the ice was still pretty thick, capturing bubbles from the depths of the lake.
