I am lucky having a couple of local places to enjoy getting out, away from traffic, the RSPB Lodge Reserve and the Swiss Garden at Old Warden. It certainly starts to feel like summer has passed but there are still glimpses of colour in this in-between time, before we get the golden autumn colours. Those who have looked at my posts before will know that I enjoy the glow of backlit leaves, like the ferns above. It has been a good year for the heather on the heath at the Lodge and there are other purple kind of plants. A robin seems to have a nickname. I’m not sure it fits this cute little bird. The remainder of today’s images are from a couple of visits to the Swiss Garden. The final picture captures an adult great crested grebe and two of the three chicks, from the second brood. The chicks look fully grown. They just need to get into their adult clothes.
