BRIAN REID PHOTOGRAPHER

A lovely if wet weekend

It has been too long since I have had house guests for a range of reasons but the good news is that Tim and Debs came up for the weekend with the planned highlight being the military airshow at Old Warden. The headline picture might give an idea off the ground based activities at the show. That is Deborah below dressed for the conditions after getting a great photo of our cavalry man. We popped into the Swiss Garden where she managed to cuddle a friendly rat. Others also came dressed for the weather. Sorry. Not the kindest shot of Tim with some of the collection aircraft in the background were ready to fly but, actually, did not as the weather closed in about 4pm before they could take to the air. There were still some interesting aircraft before the very wet early finish, like a nice liveried Harvard, a Boeing 727 oil spill suppression aircraft, the collections’ Miles Hawk Speed 6 and Avro Anson and a Douglas A26 Invader. The Invader was followed by an invasion of torrential rain, essentially, bringing the show to a premature end. Most people took shelter in the hangers and cafe, as we did, before trudging back to the car, soaked to the skin, as it clearly was not going to stop anytime soon. A change of clothes at home and a light refreshment and all was fine.
