Before the drought broke on Saturday, Deborah, Tim and I took a Friday jaunt over to Anglesey Abbey before making a stop at Maddingley US Military Cemetery on the way home. As you can see above, the grounds at Anglesey Abbey were in serious need of rain. The team set up a family fun zone for the summer holidays which was well attended providing lots of fun for the youngsters. The dahlias were coming into bloom, which is always a treat in the gardens. A sunflower had somehow found its way in amongst the dahlias pleasing a couple of bees. The rose garden had plenty of colour and scent. There was even an orphan oak leaf. At Maddingley one gets a sense of the level of loss experienced by the United States, both getting to the UK and attacking Nazi occupied Europe. I just took a few snaps in the chapel before we toured the visitor centre.
